We had a beautiful day for the Fall Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 4th!

Visitors enjoyed early American demonstrations and exhibits in the Village as well as children's activities and games.  Performers included  Irish dancers from Peggy Murphy's dance school, Irish/Scottish Folk Singer, Lee Mulder, and folk singer Kati Adams.  The children enjoyed rides in a pony cart, trying their hand at the corn borer game, and hunting the Village with the Heritage Hunt paper doll game.

New this year was the first-person reenactment group The Sisters of the Union.  The Sisters camped overnight in our log cabin and cooked all their meals over an open fire.  During the Festival they performed the traditional chores a woman of the 1860's would have done.  The chores included washing laundry, spinning and dying wool, and of course cooking.

Join us in 2009 for our Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 3rd, from 11 am - 4 pm.

The Festival is co-hosted by the Friends of Historic Meridian, Nokomis (native American)
Learning Center, and Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department.
